Greetings in Christ! I’m Jon, and I like to blog. To borrow a line from a more well-known blogger, Tim Challies, I am a plodding blogger. I don’t do this as a platform for me to be more well known; but more out of the fact that I like to write.

IMG_0367As for about me, I’m a man, a sinner saved by grace, a husband, a father, a brother, a son, and a friend. I have been in love with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for going on 21 years now, and He is my reason for being. I have been married to my bride, Roni, since 2007, and we have four wonderful children, Kirby, Zeke, Evie, and Katie. I have several siblings scattered around the United States, and my mom lives in sunny Southwest Florida.

My wife, family, and I currently serve as houseparents at a private, non-profit boarding school just outside of Chicago, Illinois, where during the week, we help take care of around 10 young girls who attend the school here. While not necessarily a Christian organization, it is front-line ministry work in how we pour out our love and share in our lives with this young girls at such impressionable ages.

We currently attend Transformation Church in South Chicago Heights, pastored by Autry Watkins. The church really is a wonderful example of a culturally diverse congregation, truly showing that we are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26). From time to time, I serve the Three Rivers Baptist Association as pulpit supply, preaching when and where needed.

I am a graduate of the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with my Masters in Theological Studies (MTS) with an emphasis in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry. The two years I spent laboring through school again were long and difficult, but, I know that I have grown in so many ways. While it may not be for everyone, Seminary was something definitely for me, as it helped me more clearly define my beliefs and allowed me to grow in ways I don’t think I would have otherwise.

I also blog as a  contributing writer for the blog and podcast The Reformed Outlook, so check it out, it’s a great group of people!
