The Monday Morning Mess – October 1st Edition
Welcome back to The Monday Morning Mess! It’s been a few weeks since the last mess was released upon the (relatively small) masses that read my posts, but then again, it has also been a few weeks since I last preached pulpit supply! This Lord’s Day was a good day, full of much prayer and thanksgiving in Sandwich, IL.
Before I get to preaching, I want to get to the entire weekend. This weekend was a weird weekend, time wise, for us. You see, Saturday felt like it should have been Sunday, and Sunday just felt out-of-place. Why? Because our job as committed to giving house parents (what my wife and I are) one Friday off every month. So, basically, at about 8:00am, if you’re one of those getting that Friday off, you’re off. No more work. No signing out the students. You’re done for the weekend. This past Friday was the first week they did it, and it was a blast! I can’t wait for this month’s day off!
My sermon prep, despite having started over later in the week last week, went by quickly, or at least seemingly so, which afforded me some more free time on Saturday, which is not something we capitalize on often enough.
When it came to this morning, standing in the pulpit, it was a blessing. I had three Sundays off, and it was nice to be back. I enjoyed preaching on 2 Peter 1:1-15, and found it very convicting and heart wrenching…to me! But, I also think I preached a bit on the long side. I am looking forward to finishing 1 Peter chapter 1 next Sunday.
Well, now that you’ve been here, you can go on! Glory to God!
