The Monday Morning Mess – September 17th

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Monday Morning Mess! Today, my mess is entitled “I just got ordained (yesterday), now what do I do?”

Well, yesterday was a good day, Praise the Lord, for me, as my church publicly confirmed my calling to the Gospel ministry and ordained me. Now, what am I going to do? Well, I am going to keep faithfully plodding along in ministry where I am at, serving at-risk children in the Chicagoland area. That it, until God brings me somewhere else. Whether near or far, I seek to proclaim the Word of God to those around me and, Lord willing, make disciples and to disciple them. I give him all the glory for what I do.

The last two weeks have been a long couple of weeks, mostly because of work, but also because I’ve discovered it weird that, after preaching for ten weeks straight at the same church, I am not doing regular sermon prep, as I have had the last two Sundays off, and will have one more off before returning to the pulpit to proclaim the Word of God. However, it has also been a nice, refreshing change, in that it’s not (currently) my profession to preach sermons every Sunday (I can’t stand making preaching sound like a job, that’s not my intention).

This week, I plan on having one to two book reviews on, one of which will be The Lost Sermons of Charles Spurgeon Volume III, Collector’s Edition. A mini-review: I have found it greatly edifying and helpful not only in my personal life, but also in my sermon preparation for some of what I preached before the break I am on. So far, all three volumes have been helpful and I highly recommend them to anyone who preaches or enjoys reading sermons. I also plan on putting out a piece of The Statement on Social Justice and the Gospel in the next week or so, so keep an eye out for that.

Well, that’s it! I hope you all had a wonderful Lord’s Day yesterday and that your week gets off going well, that is, with the Word of God!
