Greetings from The Weekly Nerd! This week is brought to you (unofficially, I don’t have sponsors) by the new CSB Apologetics Study Bible. I have definitely found my new favorite study Bible. You can read my review here, but the link won’t work until this afternoon when the post actually publishes. Just thinking ahead!
My Weekly Favorite:
Tips for Effective Pulpit Supply – This really struck a chord with me, as I am not a full-time pastor…I do pulpit supply. This is a great article with great advice.
Introducing the ‘ESV Super Giant Print Bible’ – I texted this link to my wife and she thought it was going to be a Babylon Bee article. Honestly, when I first saw this, so did I. But, it looks awesome!
All Men Need a Band of Gospel Brothers – This is a tremendous read for men. “If no male friend has bluntly confronted you about something in your life in the last year—you have contacts—not friends. If the face of a male friend does not come to mind, whom you would not want to face after messing up, then you are doing life wrong.”
Your Fitness Tracker Knows Too Much About You – This is scary on so many levels. Read it at your own peril. If you’re wearing a fitness tracker, prepare to be startled. This should especially be concerning for many missionaries in places that they really shouldn’t be. Stay safe. Stay prayerful. Keep your head on a swivel.
One Question to Ask Before You Text – This was a gut-check to me. “How many of our texts should have been conversations with real people in real life?”
Write Dumber – Just click on the link and read the article. You will be better for it. It’s a great, no-nonsense read on writing.
4 Questions you should ask before joining a church – Southern Equip at SBTS strikes again with a great diagnostic set of questions to ask yourself when looking to join a new church. This is also a must read for pastors, because you want to strive to be that place, but do so by remaining faithful to Scripture, bringing glory to God.
