Today’s Top Read:
What Makes Our Prayers Distinctively Christian?
The line in this read (or listen/watch) that reads, “I fear—in my own life and in our lives as Christians—that sometimes our prayers are not really discernibly Christian.” really put things in perspective. We must pray prayers that are distinctively Christian.
Musician Plays Saxophone During Brain Surgery
I’ve heard of this awake surgery before, but reading about it is incredible. The gift of wisdom and modern medicine from God is amazing (when not being perverted into sin). This is an incredible read.
Why Pastors Should Submit To Each Other
“No pastor is omnicompetent. Nor is his authority absolute. Consequently, godly leaders must also be humble followers.” One reason for a plurality of elders within a church.
Whom Is Jesus Ashamed Of?
“Jesus spoke to this issue clearly: “For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels” (Luke 9:26).” Well, that was an easy one! (read the article!)
How Can I Learn To Receive Criticism?
Here is a topic that I believe everyone can learn from! Christians and non-Christians alike need this! This is a great listen/read. Also, Mark Dever. Mark Dever listens to people criticize his sermons regularly, openly inviting it! We can all learn and grow and become better through receiving criticism.
Expositional Preaching and Missions: 9Marks Missions Talk podcast
9Marks has a wealth of resources for helping build healthy churches. This new podcast (only 2 episodes released as of my putting this blog post together) is great. This link is for the second episode (click HERE for the main page). They discuss the important of Expositional Preaching in missions, and that missionaries should be competent in expositional preaching, not backing down from it. It is an excellent podcast, one of the best episodes of ANY podcast I have listened to in a long time.
