Welcome to my time to nerd it out over some articles that I enjoy!
Today’s Top Read:
Isn’t He Beautiful?
“Isn’t he just beautiful? And Yahweh did it all FOR US? That comes pretty close, I imagine, to the sort of thing that Israelites must have said when they saw Aaron dressed for work.”
This is a fascinating article regarding the priestly garments. Great read!
The Proverbs 31 Man
I found this article from Desiring God to be a very interesting, and encouraging, read.
“By a delightful stroke of God’s providence, the English language bears witness to a husband’s job description in the very word husband. For a husband is a man who practices husbandry, or cultivation. Like a master gardener, his job is to so nurture and tend to his wife that she brings forth flowers.”
Shedding Tears Over Sorrows That May Never Come
This is an article, no, this is the pouring out of a man’s heart into words. Having seen my parents agonize over the deaths of two of my sisters, and the subsequent aftermath, I feel for Tim Challies’ emotions here. This is a powerful read, one that comes from the heart. I encourage all to read it.
I am especiallly grateful that Tim and his family have allowed us a glimpse, albeit a small one, into their process of grief, of mourning, and of God working in their lives over the past months.
Don’t Drop the Rock!
“Sin is never simple. Sin is never harmless. Sin is always selfish, always an occasion of harm not only to the sinner but to the whole church. And the sin of those who have been elevated to positions of prominence is particularly destructive, for the higher their platform the greater the force of their collapse, the wider their reach the more visible their downfall.”
Rejoice Always
“The word “rejoice” is a call to joy. The term was a watchword among early Christians. More than a term of worship, it was a word of salutation. Jesus used it as a greeting (Matt. 28:9). Paul used it as a farewell (2 Cor. 13:11). We typically greet one another with “Hello” or “Goodbye.” But what an encouragement it would be if we entered and departed one another’s presence with a call to rejoice.”
Which Sounds Are the Most Annoying to Humans
This is a great article, but try not to imagine some of the sounds talked about here, as they might make you cringe a little.
